Job Description

  • Rust is a new cafe opening in the heart of Kuta, inspired by the rustic Melbourne vibe and designed to offer a unique dining experience that blends Western-style dishes with an Instagrammable aesthetic. We are seeking a creative and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and shape our menu.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Craft delicious dishes with authentic flavours, including unique offerings that stand out in Bali.

Kitchen leadership:

Manage kitchen operations, ensuring high standards, smooth workflow, and timely service during peak hours.

Budgeting and cost control:

Work with management to handle food costs, portion control, and budgeting to maintain profitability while delivering top-quality dishes.

Western cuisine expertise:

Stay up-to-date with popular dining trends, especially those favoured by tourists, particularly Australians.

Seasonal menu updates:

Assist with finalising the menu and introduce seasonal updates that align with the cafe’s style and market.

Quality control:

Ensure every dish meets Rust’s standards in terms of taste, presentation, and timeliness.

Team management:

Mentor and lead the kitchen staff, including managing work schedules, training, and task assignments.

Procurement:

Participate in the sourcing of raw materials and maintain sufficient stock levels.

Food safety and storage:

Oversee food preparation, serving, and storage to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

We’re looking for an Executive Chef who has:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, with a leadership role.
  • Familiarity with Western cuisine and modern dining trends.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage menu planning, kitchen operations, and budget control.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
  • A passion for food innovation and the ability to adapt to a growing menu and customer base.
  • Basic English communication skills.
  • A team-oriented mindset to lead and inspire kitchen staff.
  • Flexibility and creativity to respond to customer feedback and improve the menu where needed.
  • Live within the Kuta area or be willing to relocate.
  • Work full time, morning until afternoon
