- Requirements and skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the same position and/or have had sailing experience as a ship crew or understand crew management and ship crew regulations.
- Bachelor of Navigation (D.IV / S1) or ANT-II and has sailed as a Captain on ships other than tug boats. E7
- Personnel with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take their own initiative
- Strong communication skills in English
- Responsibilities
- Ensure that all crew activities are well planned and organized and protected from risks.
- Ensure there are adequate capabilities and resources to meet the department’s responsibilities and objectives.
- Follow and adhere to the company’s management system with its departments.
- Follow up on customer discrepancies, observations and complaints.
- Promote awareness of customer needs across all crew departments.
- Represent the crew department in various internal and external forums (i.e. emergency response teams)
- Ensure that the ship is managed in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract.
- Review and monitor the safe manning of all vessels, based on all key conditions determined.
- Ensuring all seafarers meet all training, qualification and compliance requirements (STCW, Flag State).
- Ensure that all seafarers have passed health checks and other certificates related to fitness.
- Carry out crew changes in accordance with seafarers’ work agreements.
- To be the liaison, arrangement and monitoring in relation to the boarding and disembarkation of the crew.
- Make sure everything is running smoothly.
- Ensure all seafarers are on board in accordance with MLC, Flag State, and National requirements.
- Arrange travel arrangements with sufficient time for the handover of tasks and socialization.
- Arrange accident and irregularity insurance for passengers who do not pay fares.
- Verify and approve travel expenses from cruise personnel.
- Notifying the payroll department if there are any abnormalities.
- Monitor performance evaluations for all senior officials and follow up on them.
- Monitor the progress of cadets and follow up on them.
- Monitor training needs and initiate follow-ups.
- Inform relevant parties about medical cases and accidents according to procedures.
- Liaising with parties regarding medical cases and accidents.
- Maintain the records of shipping staff according to procedures.
- Arrange cash to be controlled and monitored according to company procedures -Monitor and control the crew budget according to company reporting procedures -Monitor and control flight costs and flight arrangements for marine personnel.
- Other duties and duties can be delegated from department heads and top management.
