  • Duties
  • Working in the Facility Management section of the U.S. Embassy Jakarta, the Plumbing Maintenance Worker carries out scheduled and unscheduled plumbing preventive maintenance and repair work on mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties. Job holder would repair, and install plumbing as needed to support a variety of systems including but not limited to plumbing building and mechanical systems, potable water treatment and storage, waste water treatment, fire sprinkler, swimming pool and landscape irrigation.

Summary of the Major Duties and Responsibilities’ for this position:

  • Operation (50%) – Installs and repairs plumbing and mechanical systems, including water supply, piping, and sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with codes and manufacturers’ recommendations. Responds to emergency calls during off-duty hours for critical system failures or safety threats. Identifies and addresses potential problems, making recommendations to ensure systems meet design and operating parameters. Orders and stocks plumbing supplies, assists in developing testing checklists, and contributes to the safety program managed by the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer.
  • Maintenance (40%) – Performs preventive maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment to ensure reliable operation and uninterrupted water supply to critical facilities. Conducts routine inspections and prepares written reports on system conditions, including key performance indicators, in line with OBO requirements. Assists in developing and executing a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for plumbing systems, equipment, and associated components.
  • Logistic (10%) – Record and compile operational data, maintaining forms, logs, and reports. Assist in preparing documents for maintenance, repair, and renovation, including soliciting and monitoring contractors. Escort local contractors at post facilities when required.

Requirements:

All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a:

Public Trust security clearance.  All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.   Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time 4 weeks upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school is required and/or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with a concentration in plumbing principles and application is required. Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of building plumbing and mechanical systems and utility treatment operations is required. English: limited language in speaking, reading and writing. Bahasa: Good working knowledge in speaking, reading and writing.  Please address this language requirement in your ERA application.  Job Knowledge: Maintenance and repair of plumbing and mechanical systems, fixtures, water treatment, potable water, and waste water treatment plant, swimming pools, fire sprinkler systems including sensors, alarms, building automation systems, hydronic systems, and water heaters. Minor component replacement of motors, valves, pumps, controls, and recording instruments. Testing procedures in control devices to monitor, diagnose faults, determine current operating capacity to the design requirements, all in accordance with host country regulations.
