Job Description
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing sauces.
- Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs.
- Ensure that all food is prepared and presented to the restaurant’s standards.
Cooking Assistance:
- Work on specific sections of the kitchen (e.g., salads, desserts, or hot food) under the guidance of a Chef de Partie or higher-ranking chef.
- Assist in cooking and plating dishes during service.
Maintaining Hygiene and Cleanliness:
- Ensure that the kitchen is clean and organized at all times.
- Follow hygiene and food safety regulations, such as cleaning workstations and properly storing food.
- Help with washing utensils, equipment, and kitchen surfaces.
Stock Management:
- Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to senior chefs.
- Properly store ingredients to prevent spoilage and ensure freshness.
Learning and Development:
- Learn various cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and culinary skills from more experienced chefs.
- Develop an understanding of different sections in the kitchen (e.g., hot kitchen, cold kitchen, pastry).
- Work towards improving speed, accuracy, and the quality of work.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service.
- Communicate clearly with team members about tasks and orders.
